As a child, I would draw anything that would stand still, and some things that wouldn't.
As a child, I would draw anything that would stand still, and some things that wouldn't.
I first began wood carving in the early 1980s as a means of relaxation therapy to offset my high stress job. Discovering sculpture was like playing clouds as a child, lying on my back, gazing into the sky to discover a bunny or a whale chasing a fish.
After taking a class from internationally recognized wildlife sculptor, Gerald Balcier, my passion for the work and skill increased. I was fortunate to be taken under his wing as his apprentice for two years and became a full-time artist in 1985.
I specialize in telling stories using Wood, Bronze, and Stone.
Each design begins and ends in abstract but blends with the representation. I use nature as my guide with design flow and balance my subject matter.

Working with clay versus wood or stone is totally different. Clay is an additive process while the other two reductive. My mind is constantly looking for the essence in each medium.
For example, when working in wood, I allow the texture, grain, color, and size to influence the final shape and flow of every sculpture.
When asked where I get my inspiration, the answer is always nature.
Life's experiences reflect themselves in my sculpture. Energy, flowing from and around each form, guides the gift I present to you.
